SAP E-Book

In this Customizing activity, you edit the SWF Centrally Employed Staff (08SW1) feature to define whether an employee is employed by the Local Authority. If an employee is 'centrally' employed they will not have a contract of employment with any specific school, but instead are employed just by the Local Authority.

Most large Local Authorities have 100~ centrally employed staff.

Most large Local Authorities have about 15,000~ staff that have data to be submitted in the Schools Workforce (SWF) Census. But that data does not necessarily have to be submitted by the Local Authority. The schools may submit this data themselves.

There are three possible submission scenarios;

1) Centrals Only

The LA is just responsible for submitting data for the employees that work directly for the LA.

2) Centrals & Schools (centralised)

The LA is responsible for submitting data for the employees that work directly for the LA and the staff that work in the schools. The LA runs the report centrally for all schools and submits the data or all schools centrally.

3) Centrals & Schools (de-centralised)

The LA is responsible for submitting data for the employees that work directly for the LA and the staff that work in the schools. The LA runs the report centrally (in 'Generation' only) for all schools. However, the LA only submits the data for its centrally employed staff. The Head Teachers of each individual school 'Maintain', 'Extract' and sumbit the data for their own school.

Note

Not all the school data will be held in SAP (that is, Curriculum data will normally only be held in the school's Management Information System (MIS)). See the section External Data for more information about sending data that is not held in SAP.
