In the standard system, we deliver a set of process step templates that you need for a standard payroll process. The texts displayed by default on the front-end user interface of each process step of the Payroll Control Center are defined in the code.

You can define your own texts using the Text Configuration for Process Step Templates (PYC_TEXT_CONFIGURATION) report in the Customizing activity Configure Texts for Process Step Templates.

In this Customizing activity, you specify whether to activate the customized texts, instead of using the SAP-default texts delivered in the code, for the front-end user interface of each process step.

You have defined process step templates using the Customizing activity Define Process Step Templates.
