PY_QA_PS_BEN_001 - Determine Job-Based Allowances

In the public sector, certain functional areas or job families offer job-based allowances. In this Customizing activity, you firstly define all functional areas and job families in the public sector, and then assign the wage types that stand for these job-based allowances to relevant job families.

According to these settings, when you use the Benefits Entitlement Workbench, the system checks employees' organizational information and determines whether they are eligible for such job-based allowances.

SAP provides the following standard module wage types that represent various job-based allowances:

• Supervisor allowance: MU08, MU09 and MU10

• Nature of Work Allowance: MU13 - MU16.

Amount of these allowances relates to the basic pay. You can check their valuation settings in Customizing for Personnel Management, under Personnel Administration -> Payroll Data -> Basic Pay -> Wage Types -> Define Valuation of Base Wage Types.

1. In this activity, define functional areas in your organization.
2. In this activity, for each functional area, maintain job families in the area.
3. In the Organizational Management, create objects for these functional areas and job families.
4. In this activity, map the object IDs with corresponding functional areas and job families.
5. In this activity, assign wage types of relevant job-based allowances to corresponding job families.

Note:

If an allowance is applicable for a functional area, assign it to all the job families within that functional area.
