In this Customizing activity, you use the feature QAOTL to determine the upper limit on overtime compensation in a month. The return value of the feature is in the form of nn/amount, where nn stands for the highest percentage the overtime compensation to the total monthly income; and the amount is the maximum payment amount of the monthly overtime compensation.

During the payroll calculation, the system compares the calculated overtime compensation amount with the specified amount and the percentage. If the original overtime payment exceeds the limits, the final overtime payment equals to the less amount of the two limits.

  1. You use the fields in the structure PQAOT as the decision factors to define employee groups.
  2. You determine the return value for each group.

An employee's daily salary rate is QAR 2000, and the monthly salary is QAR 40000.

In a month he worked 5 hours in the working days. As per the overtime limits set in the Customizing activity Define Overtime Limits and Wage Types, he only gets compensation for 3 hours. Therefore, during payroll run, the original OT compensation = 2000 x 3 = 6000.

However, due to the compensation limits set in this activity, 20/5000, the maximum OT compensation he can get is the less amount of the two:

40000 x 20% = 8000, or 5000

Therefore, the final overtime compensation the employee received from the company is QAR 5000.
