In this Customizing activity, you define various promotion conditions and group them into promotion rules; in addition, you determine the background check logic for each promotion condition.

In the follow-up activity, you can map promotion rules to positions in the Promotion Pre-Check Report - KSA Military Sector (HSAPEPMS). When the HR administrator initiates the promotion process, the system checks the assigned promotion rule to detect the eligible employees.

  1. Go to the Promotion Check Service Setup node and define the service setup for all promotion BAdI implementations. Each check service corresponds to a BAdI implementation of the BAdI definition HRPBSSA_MS_PROMOTION. The Promotion Pre-Check Report - KSA Military Sector (HSAPEPMS) report calls these implementations to check whether an employee is eligible for promotion.
  2. In the Promotion Condition node, define promotion conditions where these conditions are required for the promotion. For example, particular trainings or educational attainments can be specified as promotion conditions.
  3. In the Promotion Condition Setup node, for each condition, you assign a BAdI implementation. You map BAdI implementations with promotion conditions so that the Promotion Pre-Check Report - KSA Mlilitary Sector will execute this condition according to the way in which you have set up your BAdI implementation.
  4. In the Promotion Rule node, you define the promotion rules for specific promotion scenarios so that candidates can be identified based on whether they meet particular promotion conditions. For example, you might create a promotion rule specifically for promotion from lieutenant to major. Required conditions for this promotion scenario could include completion of particular trainings, a certain level of academic attainment, and so on.
  5. In the Promotion Rule Setup node, you map the promotion conditions that were set up in step 2 with the promotion rules that were set up in step 4. You can use the Mandatory/Optionalcolumn to indicate whether conditions must be met or are optional. You can use the Sequence Number column to check the conditions in a particular sequence. So, for example, you can set up the condition sequences so that if the condition to have completed Basic Training is met, the report next checks whether the employee meets the condition that he or she holds a Master's degree.
  6. In the Setup parameter of promotion condition node, you specifiy a particular promotion rule (for example, lieutenant to major) and a particular condition associated with that rule (for example, seniority). You then assign promotion points to parameters within the the seniority condition. For example, a parameter within the seniority condition might be 2 promotion points earned per each year of service.
