Q2C_MULTIADDR_BF - Activate Multiple Address Handling in SD Documents Using SAP BP

Enable apps and documents across the sales process and beyond to consume parts of the SAP Business Partner data model that can provide multiple addresses with time-dependent validities and address-dependent data per business partner master record.

By activating multiple address handling, you can increase the flexibility and efficiency with which the system handles business partner addresses in apps and documents (for example, sales orders, outbound deliveries, and billing documents) across sales, shipping, and some other parts of the system (for example, settlement management).

When multiple address handling is not active, the system uses the standard customer master data model, which can only store a single customer address per customer master record. A legal entity with N addresses is therefore typically maintained as N parallel BP records assigned to the same number of customer master records (forming respective 1:1 relationships). This in turn leads to data redundancies, because the same legal entity is often represented in the system multiple times, once for each physical address.

When multiple address handling is active and customer master data has been consolidated as required, sales, shipping, and some other applications can model and process the relationships between BPs and their addresses in a way that more closely reflects the real-world legal and physical realities, where a single legal entity can have multiple physical addresses.

After multiple address handling has been activated, and after you have consolidated and enriched your master data as required, you can benefit from the following related features when creating and processing SD documents:

• SD documents and apps can consume multiple addresses per business partner (BP) across the quote-to-cash process

• Time-dependent validity of addresses and automatic validity checks across consuming apps

• Address selection functions added to apps for creating sales documents and outbound deliveries without order reference

• Automatic propagation of address-dependent data from business partner master records to new and changed sales documents

• Enhanced partner determination procedure

• Enhanced APIs for the affected business objects to support multiple address handling

Note that once activated, multiple address handling cannot be deactivated. However, activation should not have any disruptive effects. The immediate impact of activation is that partner functions in newly created SD documents will reference addresses maintained in BP master data records instead of the standard addresses maintained in customer master data records.

No business data is changed. The system will still be able to process SD documents created before activation, which reference addresses in customer master data records.

• To be able to activate this functionality, you must have already activated the prerequisite functionality in SAP Business Partner, which enables the enrichment of customer master data with address-dependent attributes. You can activate this prerequisite functionality in the Multiple Address Handling for Customer Master Data in SAP BPconfiguration activity.

• You can find this configuration activity by using the search function in your configuration environment. Note that once this functionality is activated, it cannot be deactivated.

2. Reminder: Activation is irreversible, so please consider the decision carefully.
3. To activate multiple address handling in SD documents, change the switch state in the configuration activity to ON.
