SAP E-Book

In this Customizing activity, you configure the search for QIM objects with the Enterprise Search component of SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP, the Embedded Search.

The QIM objects are made available for the search by means of various search and analytics models and the respective search object connectors.

You have installed the standalone engine Search and Classification (TREX) or SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse Accelerator (BWA) for the indexing of the application data.

In the standard system, various search and analytics models are supplied for QIM and in the IAM software layer, DataSources are supplied for the extraction of Customizing texts.

You can find the models in the transaction ESH_MODELER under the following paths:

  • Application models under QAM -> CA -> CA-IAM -> CA-IAM-QIM
  • Technical models under /IAM/ -> CA -> CA-IAM -> CA-IAM-ENG

To configure the search, proceed as follows:

  1. Activate the DataSources for the QIM Customizing texts in Customizing under Transfer Business Content DataSources. Activate all DataSources under Issue and Activity Management (APCO-IAM) -> IAM-GEN.
  2. Make the following settings in Customizing for SAP NetWeaver under Search and Operational Analytics:
  • Common Settings for Operational Analytics and Embedded Search

  • Embedded Search

  1. In the production system, create search object connectors for the search and analytics models supplied. You do this in the Connector Administration Cockpit (transaction ESH_COCKPIT).
  2. For the search object connectors, set up the UI technology for navigation to the back-end system. You do this in the Connector Administration Cockpit under System Settings -> Maintain UI Technologies. For the entry Web Dynpro (Application Server), set the Active indicator. If you use the Portal, also set the Active indicator for the entry Web Dynpro (Portal) and specify the connection parameters (protocol, host, port, and system alias) in the details area.
  3. Make the search object connectors available for the search by starting the indexing in the ESH Cockpit.

For more information, see SAP NetWeaver Library: Function-Oriented View -> Search and Operational Analytics -> Embedded Search -> Setting Up Embedded Search.
