SAP E-Book

In this Customizing activity, you define the document types that you can attach to an activity or issue. You can restrict the authorization of users to specific document types.

You assign the document types to document schemas. You can define various document schemas with different document types and control user access to specific document types using document schemas.

Via the document schema, you can assign different document types to one issue or activity category.

Attachment Schema in BOPF Customizing

In Customizing for BOPF (Business Object Processing Framework), an attachment schema and an attachment type are stored. A business object is assigned to the attachment schema.

For QIM, the generic attachment schema IAM_ATT with the attachment type IAMAT is defined in the standard system. The attachment schema is assigned to the business objects /IAM/ACTIVITY and /IAM/ISSUE.

You make the settings for the attachment schema under: Cross-Application Components → Processes and Tools for Enterprise Applications → Reusable Objects and Functions for BOPF Environment → Dependent Object Attachment Folder → Maintain Attachment Type Schema.

MIME Types

Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) are used in QIM to describe the data format of an attachment.

In the SAP system, you define MIME types at different levels:

  • In Customizing for BOPF, you assign the permitted MIME types to a business object.
  • In Customizing for QIM, you assign the permitted MIME types to a document type.

The MIME types that you specify for a document type must match the MIME types that were defined for the business object that is assigned to the document schema.

Note: If the MIME types do not match, the application will abort when you use document types.

Make sure that the MIME type used is defined in the list of permitted MIME types in Customizing for BOPF and that the MIME type is assigned to a document type in Customizing for QIM.

For more information about the use of MIME types in the SAP system, see the Notes 1237688 (New Mime Types for Microsoft Office 2007 in KPro and ARL) and 774092 (Tables for Customizing the MIME Types of DMF Documents).

SICF Settings

Check the settings for the services in the Internet Communication Frameworks (transaction SICF), which permits communication with the SAP system via standard Internet protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, and SMTP).

You must have activated the service CONTENTSERVER (path: default_host/sap/bc/). In the settings for the service CONTENTSERVER, you must assign a user of the user type "Service" that was created in the transaction SU01 to ensure anonymized access. Note that this user must not have any authorization rights.

For more information, see the documentation on Internet Communication Framework and Content Management Service (BC-SRV-KPR) in SAP NetWeaver Library.

In the standard system, the following are delivered:

  • Generic document type QIM
You can use this document type and transfer or change the assigned MIME types.
  • Generic document schemas QIM_ACT for activities and QIM_ISSUES for issues
You can assign your own document types to these schemas or use the document type QIM, which is already assigned to the schemas as the default document type.
  • You can use the default document type QIM and assign or delete the necessary MIME types.
  • You can use the default document schemas QIM_ACT or QIM_ISSUE with the assigned default document type QIM.
  • If you create your own document types, you must assign the respective MIME types to these document types.
You must assign the new document types to a document schema.
  • If you assign your own document types to a document schema, you must assign an attachment type to these document types, which you created in BOPF Customizing. The SAP system automatically assigns the generic attachment type IAMAT (see Prerequisites).
  • If you create your own document schemas, you must assign them business objects that contain the respective attachment schemas and attachment types (see Prerequisites) and specify a default document type. The generic attachment type IAMAT is automatically entered by the system.
