SAP E-Book

In this Customizing activity, you specify which activity types you want to use in Quality Issue Management (QIM).

The activity type determines the fundamental properties of an activity, for example, the status profile. The status profile is assigned to an activity type indirectly via the activity category. The following activity categories are delivered:

  • Basic activity
  • Extended activity
  • Question
  • Information
  • Question for 5 Whys analysis
Note: Since the 5 Whys analysis is conducted in a special user interface, you cannot activate historical texts for 5 Whys analysis questions. HTML formatting is also not possible. You should therefore use this activity category for 5 Whys analyses only and not in other scenarios.

For more information about activity categories, see Define Settings for Activity Categories.

In Customizing for QIM, you have made the settings that are relevant for the respective activity type, for example, the following:

  • You have completed the relevant settings under Issue Processing.
  • You have made the settings for the digital signature under Environment.

In the standard system, the following activity types are supplied:

  • Immediate action
  • Corrective action
  • Preventive action
  • Question
  1. If the activity types provided by SAP are not sufficient for your purposes, define your own enterprise-specific activity types. If necessary, deactivate any default entries you do not require.
  2. For each activity type, specify the respective activity category and the role of the partner who is responsible for the activity.
The responsible partner is listed in QIM in various places; it is also used, for example, as a selection criterion in the personal worklist.
  1. Use the respective indicator to specify whether the activities of an activity type should automatically be set to the In Process status when they are created.
  2. If you have defined your own customer-specific user statuses, specify which user status profile is valid for the activity type.
  3. Use the respective indicators to specify the following for the partner roles of an activity type:
  • The partner role can be assigned to one partner only.

  • The assignment of a partner to an activity is mandatory.

  1. Specify the print form that is to be used by default for printing of the activity type.
  2. Specify whether a digital signature is required for specific business transactions, for example, for the validation of an activity.
Note
In SAP QIM, you can only use signature strategies to which a system signature based on user ID and password is assigned as the signature method.
