SAP E-Book

In this Customizing activity you can create user-specific categories for defects. You can create these defect categories in addition to the standard categories delivered by SAP.

Determination of task type

You can choose between the following task types:

  • Containment Task
You can use this task type for tasks without follow-up actions.
  • Containment Task with Follow-Up Action
You can use this task type if you want to use follow-up actions.
You define follow-up actions in Customizing under Nonconformance Management -> Task Processing -> Define Follow-Up Actions for Quality Tasks. You then need to assign the follow-up action to a code for nonconformance tasks in catalog 2 (Tasks).

Defect Category Context

For your user-specific defects you can define the context in which defects of this defect category are used. Depending on the defect category context, different information can be recorded for a defect. For example, for defects with the context Production Engineering and Operations, the Reference Objects section is included.

Affected Objects

You can define that an object list is included in the defect where you maintain the defective object and the objects affected by the defect.

You can add the objects manually or retrieve them with the Business Add-In (BAdI) QM_NCM_DEFECT_ADD_AFFCDOBJ.

The Affected Objects section can be relevant if the defective material is part of a component or product, for example if a door handle is scratched and the processing of the scratched door handle affects all other parts of the door.
