RCF_NAVI_CTREE - Redefine Navigation Trees

In this IMG activity, you redefine navigation trees predefined by SAP according to your own requirements.

Navigation trees form the navigation bars in the E-Recruiting scenarios. They are displayed in the right or left side of the browser window (see also Define System Parameters).

Each scenario is assigned a navigation tree. The assignment takes place over the root of the navigation tree and cannot be influenced in Customizing. In this way, for example, the scenario "Requisition Maintenance" always uses root "0003".

Structure of a Navigation Tree

A navigation tree consists of navigation nodes. A navigation node can represent a link or a header. Links enable you to display the destination assigned to the links in the browser window. Headers are generally used to group links in a meaningful way. The structure of a navigation tree is built up as follows:

• Each navigation node is assigned to a node ID. The sequence of nodes in the navigation bar is determined from the node IDs in ascending order.

• There are higher-level and lower-level navigation nodes. A lower-level node is displayed indented under the higher-level node. However, if a navigation node does not have any lower-level nodes, it is displayed as left-aligned in the navigation bar.

SAP delivers predefined navigation trees in the standard table T77RCF_NV_TREE.

Navigation trees that you define in this IMG activity, replace the standard delivery. The newly defined tree structure is used instead of the standard structure with the same navigation root.

1. Select the navigation tree you want to redefine. To do so, specify the root of the tree.
2. Build up the structure of the navigation tree according to your requirements. To do so, specify a node ID and assign it a navigation node. Specify which of the higher-level nodes applies to this node. An initial value (0000) means that no higher-level node exists for a node. Do this for each navigation node in your navigation tree.

• Only assign navigation nodes to a root that are meaningful in the business context of the scenario.

• The text of a navigation node is stored in the Online Text Repository(OTR). If you want to change the text, determine the alias of the OTR text for the navigation node you want to change from tableDefinition of Navigation Nodes (T77RCF_NV_NODE). Modify the assigned text in the OTR.

• In general, you can recognize elements that appear as headers because the relevant navigation node in the Definition of Navigation Nodes table is only assigned one OTR alias.

• Navigation trees cannot be structured in any deeper hierarchy. The nesting depth is limited by the system.
