Recipe Management uses the structures of integrated Product and Process Engineering (iPPE).

Important Note: All the necessary settings are supplied with the standard system and as a rule, it is not necessary to change them. This document contains all the important technical information about iPPE.

Process elements are managed as iPPE objects of the application object type process object in the SAP system. Each process element consists of:

  • An iPPE node that contains the different engineering change statuses and their data
  • An iPPE relationship that maps the structural links with recipes and other process elements for an appropriate process element type
  • An iPPE relationship that maps structural links with the formula used in the process of a process stage, for an appropriate process element type.

You can differentiate between links between different object types (recipe types and formulas) using various relationship types.

This document describes the iPPE settings in your system for the application object type process object. This gives you an overview of the relevant areas.

The standard system contains the following process element types with the required iPPE settings for them.

  • Node type S_POB_PB for the process
  • A node type for the building block and one for the dependent object for stages, operations, and actions (for example, for a stage, node type S_POB_SB for the building block and S_POB_SD for the dependent object).

You will find Customizing for iPPE in the Implementation Guide under Production -> Basic Data -> Integrated Product and Process Engineering. The following settings are relevant:

  • Basic iPPE settings
You will find these settings in Customizing for iPPE under Define General iPPE Customizing. If required, check and change the entries made for the system response to different logical systems. The setting also affects other iPPE applications.
Important Note: Do not make any changes. This is not usually necessary.

Other iPPE activities in Recipe Management:

A node type consists of a key, a description, and possibly its own icon.
Important note: Only the node types in the standard system are taken into account. Do not create any new node types or make changes to them.
The relationship types of the process element types are defined by copying the relationship types of the template. The following relationship types may be required depending on the recipe type:
Relationship between the node type of a process or stage and the node types formula:
  • Access dependent formula (S_FRMDHD/S_FRMSHD) and formula

  • Access independent formula (S_FRM_HD)

The definition of relationship types provides the basis for editing the recipe.
