In this IMG activity, you specify which columns are available to you for process parameters in Recipe Management and which characteristics can be used for the fields in the columns.

You have specified process parameter types and assigned a class to each process parameter type.

  1. Define all columns that you need for the data for the various process parameters.
  2. If necessary, assign one of the following roles to one column only:
  • Target value

  • Minimum quantity, maximum quantity

  • Unit of measure

For more information, see Column Role.
  1. Under Fields for Process Parameters, specify for each column the characteristics that the system is to use for the column fields.

Note the following:

  • To be able to enter data for a process parameter in a column field, one of the characteristics that you assigned to the column here must be assigned to the class that you have assigned to the process parameter type of the process parameter (see Example).
  • When you enter a value for a process parameter, the system automatically adds the unit of measurement from the characteristic that you defined in this IMG activity for the column of the value. The system displays this unit in the field for the value. You must, however, still define a characteristic for the unit in this IMG activity because the system stores the unit internally in this characteristic so that it is available for recipe transformation, for example. The characteristic for the unit must have the data type Character Format and sufficient characters so that the system can display the required units.
  • Intervals are not supported in the target values. We therefore recommend that you do not allow interval values in the characteristics for the target values.
  • The characteristics for the target value, the minimum and maximum quantity in Recipe Management, and for the actual value in Trial Management must have the same unit of measurement.

You want to use the process parameters Oven Temperature and Boiler Temperature in Recipe Management. You set these up as follows:

  1. In Classification, you create the class Temperature with the following characteristics:
  • Target Value

  • Minimum and Maximum Quantity

  • Unit of Measure

  1. Under Specify Process Parameter Types, you create the process parameter Temperature. You assign the Temperature class to this process parameter type.
  2. In this IMG activity, you create columns for the following values and assign the columns the corresponding characteristics in the Temperature class:
  • Target value

  • Minimum and maximum quantity

  • Unit of measure

  1. In Recipe Management, you create the process parameters Oven Temperature and Boiler Temperature and assign the process parameter type Temperature to both.

You can then select these created process parameters in the recipe and enter values in them in the fields of the Target Value and Minimum and Maximum Quantity columns. For data entry in the fields, the conditions apply that you defined for the characteristics in characteristic management, for example, the format you set there.
