In this IMG activity, you define validity areas for formulas and recipes. In this way, you specify the regional or organizational units in which formulas or recipes are valid. You make the following settings:

  • You assign each validity area to a validity area category. In this way, you distinguish, for example, validity areas that describe a business area, a plant, or a region.
  • You combine regional and organizational units into larger units by making the following settings:
  • You assign validity areas of category Region those countries and subregions contained in the validity area of that category.

  • You assign validity areas of other categories those validity areas of the same category contained in the validity area.

You then assign the validity areas to the following objects in Recipe Management:

The validity area EU (European Union) of the category Region is made up of all EU member states. You assign the country keys of all member states to this validity area.

You have defined validity area categories in the IMG activity Define Validity Area Categories.

  1. Check which regional and organizational units you must take into account in the scopes of application for your formulas and recipes. Combine these units into validity areas.
  2. Define the validity areas.
  3. To these validity areas assign, depending on the category, the countries, regions, or validity areas that are contained in them.

Validity areas are also used in the Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) component (see Set Up EH&S Customizing).
