Make settings for global functions. These functions concern various areas of the Group Reporting component. The settings you make here therefore apply throughout the entire system.

Default settings in the standard system are those that SAP anticipates to be the most common settings for the use of the component.

At the beginning of the effective from fiscal year for line items in SAP S/4HANA, the system only stores the transactional data as line items, this means there is no aggregation of documents to the summary data. The line items in the SAP S/4HANA structures enable the processing and evaluation of consolidation at a high level of detail.

The effective from fiscal year for new group reporting logic is the starting year from which the new group reporting logic can be used in SAP S/4HANA. The new group reporting logic contains a series of functions (for example, managing the consolidation group structure, group view, hierarchy views, and enhanced consolidation-group-dependent postings) that support legal- and management consolidation and provide a high degree of flexibility for reorganizations at the same time.

You can choose the following settings:

  • Change from using selections instead of sets when defining reclassification methods, translation methods, and breakdown categories.
  • Change to new validation solution.
  • Activate the item role attribute used when configuring the following automatic posting:
  • Specify selected items for automatic posting

  • Define currency translation methods

  • Define reclassification methods

If you install SAP Best Practices Content, all functions are activated. SAP advises that you do not deactivate functions.

If SAP delivers a new function, it is not automatically activated. If you decide to activate this function, select the appropriate checkbox. As soon as a function is active, SAP advises that you do not deactivate it.

The following additional settings are necessary, depending on the function you activated:

  • Reclassification: Selection object in trigger
  • Define selections

  • Define reclassification methods

  • Validation in SAP S/4HANA consolidation
  • Define validation rules

  • Define validation methods
