SAP E-Book

In this activity, you define reporting rules by grouping a set of filter criteria.

The use of reporting rules can fulfill multiple report requirements within one single and flexible framework. It consists of multiple reporting items, which can be displayed as reporting dimensions in rule-based reports such as Cash Flow Statement, Statement of Changes in Equity, Statement of Comprehensive Income, and Profit & Loss Statement by Function of Expense.

  • You have defined reporting items in the financial statement (FS) item hierarchy in the configuration activity Define Consolidation Chart of Accounts. Enter reporting items as statistical items, hierarchical reporting items as totals items, and leaf-node reporting items as value items.

Note these two configuration activities are also available as self-service configuration user interfaces (SSC UIs) in the SAP Fiori launchpad.

  1. Enter the Reporting Rule Variant that you want to create or change and specify the Consolidation Chart of Accounts and Reporting Item Hierarchy as the rule context. If you are creating a reporting rule, you also need to enter a description in the Description field.
  2. Add reporting items one by one, and assign one of the following to each:
  • A range of FS Items

  • FS Item Attribute IDand FS Item Attribute Value ID

  • FS Item Hierarchyand Hierarchy Node

  1. Optionally, you can also add other necessary filter criteria, such as subitems, document types, or consolidation units.
  2. Save and exit. The created or changed reporting rule can be assigned to report rule versions and thereafter to consolidation versions.
  • You also have the option to:
  • Download the current list of entries to a spreadsheet by choosing Export.

  • Make changes in the exported list and upload the list by choosing Import.

This feature is especially useful when you want to copy the settings of an existing reporting rule to create a new reporting rule after making necessary changes.
  • Reporting rules that are already assigned to report rule versions cannot be deleted or changed any more.
