The borrowing reason specifies for what purpose a medical record is borrowed. To each borrowing reason, you can assign the length of time for which the record can be borrowed and a reference date for creating a reminder.

  • If you set the
  • discharge date as the reference date, and the medical record was borrowed for an inpatient treatment, the system calculates the due date for returning the medical record by adding the borrowing duration to the discharge date. If, on the other hand, the medical record was borrowed for an outpatient treatment, the system calculates the due date by adding the borrowing duration to the date of the last visit.

If you set the borrowing date as the reference date, the system calculates the due date for returning medical records by adding the borrowing duration defined for the borrowing reason to the borrowing date.

The borrowing duration you specify with the borrowing reason here is only taken into account if you have not defined a borrowing duration for the borrower in the IMG activity Define Borrowers and Their Borrowing Authorizations.

If you have set up Medical Record Management so that borrowing records or borrowing requests are automatically created in the background, you have to specify the borrowing reason Patient treatment with the ID 01.
