To create business partners, you need number ranges within which you can assign internal or external numbers. You can also assign alphanumeric keys for your business partners.

You can define a separate number range for each function the business partner assumes. However, it makes more sense to use a common number change for insurance providers and customers.

This number range is used when you create a business partner in the corresponding function.

The numbers of business partners are unique within a client.

The system uses the number range object ISN_NGPA for business partners. The number ranges for the various business partner functions are distinguished by object keys. Even if you do not want to reserve a separate number range for each function, there must be an entry for each of the object keys listed below.

Caution: Deleting an entry for an object key can result in abnormal program termination.

You should use the following object keys:

  • DEBI - customer
  • GPAR - business partner
  • KOST - insurance provider

If you want to use different number range intervals for each institution, you must choose different number ranges for each institution and enter the four-character institution number in the Obj. Key field. Otherwise, enter the wildcard * in this field.

Enter N for normal operation in the transaction mode field M.

You maintain the number range intervals by choosing Maintain Number Ranges and Insert Interval. The system checks whether the intervals overlap. If you are using internal and external number assignment, the numbers must not overlap.

You can assign both internal and external number ranges for each object. The external number range may contain any combination of letters and numbers. In such cases, you do not need to create a separate number range. You only need to flag the A (alphanumeric) checkbox for the corresponding object.
