In this Customizing activity, you specify the usage of the condition types in Patient Accounting in greater detail.

To do this, you enter the relevant condition types and specify what each is used for and, if applicable, the rule type the system is to access in catalog column determination.

You can make a distinction between different categories of condition type:

  • Condition types that determine the basic price (only one condition type should be used for each service billed)
  • Condition types that determine a surcharge or discount based on a condition table with an access sequence, for example to define a percentage surcharge for administrative costs
  • Condition types that access a certain (additional) column in the service catalog for a surcharge or discount. In this case, you also need to maintain the settings for catalog column determination.

These conditions can be what is termed "statistical" conditions. The values for these conditions are determined continuously during invoicing and stored in the system, but do not change the invoice amount. This can be useful if you want to calculate certain amounts during billing that are of interest to the hospital administration (for example, reimbursement of costs between a hospital and a physician) but are not necessarily relevant for the recipient of the invoice.

You need to have created the relevant condition types beforehand.

Enter all the condition types whose usage you want to define in greater detail. You may also need to specify the condition type(s) that determine the basic price.

Enter the usage (Usg column) and, if the system is to determine an additional column, the rule type (Rule Type column). The rule type references rules for catalog column determination.

For a list of the usages supported by the system, see the input help for the Usg field.

Next, maintain the catalog column determination settings for the specified rule type if you need the system to access service catalog columns.

Add the condition types to the relevant pricing procedure. If you want a condition type to access values in the catalog columns, enter the value 501 in the Base Formula field.
