In the following steps you adjust the search area. See also Object Manager.

  1. In the Add More Nodes to Search Area/Determine Sequence of Search Nodes step, make the following settings:
  • In the Scenario field, enter the object manager scenario in which you want to customize the search area.

  • In the Search Node Key, enter the key of the search node you want to add or change.

  • In the Position field, determine the position of the relevant search node within the search area.

Definition of the following attributes is optional:
  • Name: If the search node in question is an SAP standard one, the name you enter here overwrites the SAP name. If the search node is your own, the name you enter here overwrites the name you entered when you defined the search node, or - in the case of an object type-specific search node - the name taken from table T7780.

  • Column Group: This entry determines which results columns the system displays in the selection area after a search. You can override this entry with appropriate search tool-specific entries in step 3 (customize search nodes). If the search node is an SAP standard, the column group you enter here overwrites the SAP one.

  • Heading Type: This entry determines which column headings of the search results are displayed over which columns in the selection area. If the search node in question is an SAP standard, the heading type you enter here overwrites the standard SAP heading type.

  1. In the Exclude Search Nodes step, make the following settings:
  • To exclude a standard SAP search node from the search area, you must enter the corresponding object manager scenario in the Scenario field.

  • In the Search Node Key field, enter the search tool that you want to exclude.

  1. In the Customize Search Nodes step, make the following settings:
  • To assign a search tool to a search node, enter the corresponding object manager scenario in the Scenario field.

  • In the Search Node Key field, enter the search tool that you want to add or whose attributes you want to change.

Possible search tools include, for example, Search Term, which searches for objects by name, and Structural Search, which returns objects in the context of the evaluation path specified in table T77OS.
  • You must also enter an interaction tool. SAP recommends choosing the same interaction tool that is assigned to the other search tools in the scenario.

  • The value entered in the Position field determines the sequence of the search tools under the search node.

Definition of the following attributes is optional:
  • Name: If the search tool in question is a standard SAP one, you overwrite it with your entry here. If the search tool in question has been newly created by you, your entry here overwrites the name you entered when defining the search tool.

  • Standard Search Tool: If a search tool is designated a standard search tool, it means that the corresponding search node becomes a link, and when you click on the link, the system starts a search using the search tool designated as standard. You can only define one standard search tool per search node.

  • Do Not Display Separately: If this indicator is set, a search tool designated as standard does not appear additionally under the search node. In this case the search node itself is a link to the corresponding search.

  • Column Group: This entry determines which results columns the system displays in the selection area after a search. If, in step 1, you specified a column group when you assigned the search node to a scenario, this entry overrides your entry there for the current search tool. If the search tool in question is an SAP standard one in the corresponding search node, then this entry overrides the corresponding one in the SAP standard.

  • Überschriftstyp: This entry determines which column headings of the search results the system displays over which columns in the selection area. If you specified a heading type when you assigned the search node to a scenario in step 1, this entry overrides the one you made there. If the search tool in question is a standard SAP one, your entry here overrides the corresponding SAP standard entry.

  1. In the Exclude Search Tool in a Search Node step, make the following settings:
  • To exclude from the search area an SAP standard search tool in a search node, you must enter the corresponding object manager scenario in the Scenario field.

  • In the Search Node Key field, enter the search node under which the search tool to be excluded in the above-mentioned scenario is displayed.

  • In the Search Tool field, enter the search tool that is to be excluded.

  • If the set/get parameter OM_OBJM_SCEN_DISPLAY is set, you can see in the search area which object manager scenario is active in an instance of the object manager.
  • You can see the SAP standard search nodes for an object manager scenario in the view T77FNODORD.
  • You can see the SAP standard search tools for a search node in the view V77FSEAT.
  • If the parameter OM_ARRAYTYPE_DISPLAY is set, you can find out which column group is currently being displayed in a structural or list display, and which columns are assigned to that column group, by selecting the Technical Info pushbutton in the column configuration dialog box.
