In this step, you make the following settings required for carrying out the planning run:

  • activate material requirements planning
  • set up the planning file
  • consistency check for the planning file

Activate material requirements planning

In this step, you specify for which plants you want to carry out material requirements planning.

Set up planning file

Here, you must carry out a background job for the creation of the planning file entries.

The planning file controls the total planning run for the planning procedures "net change planning" and "net change planning in the planning horizon". It contains all materials that can be relevant for the planning run. A material is automatically recorded in the planning file with the valid MRP type when it is created. The planning file uses various indicators to control whether the material is included in the planning run or not.

Select "Set up planning file" when activating a plant for MRP (material master data, however, already exists in the system). The materials are thus recorded in the planning file at a later date.

Consistency check for the planning file

Here, the planning file entries are checked to make sure that they are consistent by using a background job. This program deletes planning file entries that are no longer required or adjusts the entried to suit the current situation.
Carry out the consistency check if you;
  • deactivate material requirements planning

  • deactivate materials plannig for material master records by using the MRP type "No planning"

  • activate material master records that were previously set to "No planning" with a valid MRP type

Activate material requirements planning

  1. If necessary, activate MRP for the appropriate plants.
  2. Set up the planning file for these plants.

Deactivate material requirements planning

  1. If necessary, deactivate material requirements planning in the appropriate plants.
  2. Start the background job which you use to delete planning entries in the planning file that are no longer relevant.

Reorganize the materials in the planning file by starting the background job that deletes the materials that are not relevant to the planning run from the planning file.
