SAP E-Book

In this step, you transfer simple BOMs without long text.

First create a sequential file with the BOM data from your existing IT system and make this file available in the SAP System.

  1. In the Logical file name field, enter the name of the sequential file containing the BOM data from your existing IT system.
Input is as follows:
/path/name of the sequential file
  1. In the dataset Storage location of file to be read, enter information on the server where the sequential file with the BOM data from your existing IT system is stored.
If the file is on an external application server, enter the name of the server. (You can use the possible entries function to do this.)
  1. Use the Create session indicator to define whether the system is to create batch input sessions, which you can process at a later date.
  • If you want the system to always create sessions, select the indicator.

  • If you want the system to create all BOMs online, do not select the indicator. In this case, the system only writes the BOMs that were created incorrectly to batch input sessions.

  1. Run the program.
  2. Choose a processing mode.
  3. Test the transferred data.

For further information on the structure of the sequential file, see the documentation on the transfer program "Transfer BOM without long text" (report RCSBI010).

Notes on transport

There is no point in providing a transport connection for this function, because it does not change any customizing data.
