In this step, you define effectivity types.

You can change an object (for example, BOM) with various effectivity types, so you must define a means of prioritizing these effectivity types.
Effectivity parameters define the properties of the effectivity type.

Before you can use effectivity types to control object changes, you must perform the following steps:

Activate the new effectivity types.
Define effectivity parameters.

In the standard R/3 System, the following effectivity types are defined:

  • DATE (time interval)
  • SERNR (serial number interval)

In order to be able to keep the change conditions visible at a glance, you should not allocate more than four effectivity parameters to an effectivity type.

You define the effectivity types as follows:

  1. Choose Create.
  2. Enter a key for your effectivity type.
This key is not language-dependent.
  1. Enter a language-dependent description in your logon language.
  2. Define the priority of the effectivity type.
  3. In the Effectivity parameters dataset, select the parameters you require.
  4. Save your entries.

There is the following restriction for the ALE distribution of change numbers:
The effectivity type cannot have more than ten self-defined effectivity parameters allocated to it.
