Define certificate types, for example, for quality management in procurement.

In this step you can define certificate types that are relevant for incoming or for outgoing certificates:

  • Incoming certificates
At goods receipt from suppliers, the supplier might have to provide a quality certificate together with the delivered items. Whether or not a certificate must be supplied can be set up in the QM view of the material master by assigning a certificate type.
  • Outgoing certificates
For a delivery, a quality certificate can automatically be generated, based on the inspection results.

The table of certificate types is used for both, incoming and outgoing certificates.

The certificate type defines the controlling functions for the processing of certificate receipts. It is stored in the material master at plant level.

You only need this workstep, if there are control keys for QM in procurement, in which the indicator certificate required is set. For requests for quotations and purchase orders, the system informs the supplier that a certificate is required and processes the expected certificates according to the settings that have been defined for the certificate type.

  1. Use the field help to find out which controlling functions are linked to the certificate type and decide which of these functions you require.
  2. Define appropriate certificate types for the material groups that require certificates.
  3. Define the controlling functions linked to the certificate type.
  4. If you want to use the enhanced certificate processing, (which includes management of the certificate receipt), you must maintain a number range for the receipt of the certificate.
  5. You can also receive certificates by data transfer. For the required implementation step, see the section Quality Certificates / Output Processing / IDoc Processing.

You can define your own certificate types and short texts in order to better organize your quality certificates. You do this by copying the delivered certificate type QM01.

You are allowed to create certificate types starting with the letters A to O, T to W, Z, or with the numbers 1 to 4.
