Define custom entries for material groups.

The material master includes reserve fields that are not assigned to any particular function. To use these fields according to the needs of your organization, you can freely define up to five different material groups. In each group, you can create a set of 3-character value/ description combinations.

Then, in the Sales: Sales Org. Data 2 view of the material master data record, under Material groups, you can classify the material using the defined values in each of the five material groups.

The reserve fields used for material groups are stored in the system as follows:

  • Material group 1 (View: V_TVM1 Field: MVGR1)
  • Material group 2 (View: V_TVM2 Field: MVGR2)
  • Material group 3 (View: V_TVM3 Field: MVGR3)
  • Material group 4 (View: V_TVM4 Field: MVGR4)
  • Material group 5 (View: V_TVM5 Field: MVGR5)

You can change the field descriptions, for example, replace Material Group 1 with Brand, by changing the field labels of the corresponding data elements (MVGR1 to MVGR5).For SAP GUI transactions,you can change the field labels as follows:

  1. In the main SAP Menu, choose Tools -> ABAB Workbench -> Utilities -> Enhancements -> Project Management.
  2. In the Project Management of SAP Enhancements, choose More -> Goto -> Text Enhancements -> Key Words -> Change.
  3. Maintain the field labels for data elements MVGR1 to MVGR5.

For the Manage Product Master (F1602) App,the reserve fields used for product groups are stored in the system as follows:

  • Product Group 1 (Field:FIRSTSALESSPECPRODUCTGROUP)
  • Product Group 2 (Field: SECONDSALESSPECPRODUCTGROUP)
  • Product Group 3 (Field: THIRDSALESSPECPRODUCTGROUP)
  • Product Group 4(Field: FOURTHSALESSPECPRODUCTGROUP)
  • Product Group 5 (Field:FIFTHSALESSPECPRODUCTGROUP)

For the Manage Product Master (F1602) App, you can change the field descriptions, for example, replace Product Group 1 with Brand, by changing the field labels of the corresponding data elements FIRSTSALESSPECPRODUCTGROUPto FIFTHSALESSPECPRODUCTGROUP). You can change the field labels as follows:

  1. Execute transaction CMOD or in the main SAP Menu, choose Tools -> ABAB Workbench -> Utilities Enhancements -> Project Management.
  2. In the Project Management of SAP Enhancements, choose More -> Goto -> Text Enhancements -> Key Words -> Change. Maintain the field labels for data elements FIRSTSALESSPECPRODUCTGROUP to FIFTHSALESSPECPRODUCTGROUP.

Maintain values and descriptions for each of the material groups.

You designate Material Group 1 to mean Brand. You define the value/ description combinations as follows:

Material Group 1 Description
TOP Top recognized brand offering
STB Store's own offering
VAB Value brand offering

Then, in the material master record, on the Sales: Sales Org. Data 2 tab, you enter TOP in the Material Group 1field, to specify that a material is that of a top brand.
