Configure statuses that materials can have in Sales.

Define the statuses that a material can have in Sales, which allows you to specify how the system responds when a sales document containing this material is processed. For example, you can use a material status to prevent the processing of sales orders that include materials which represent discontinued parts.

Evaluate the statuses that a material can have at your company and to what extent this material may be used in sales documents. Adapt existing statuses to your requirements as necessary.
  1. If required, create additional material statuses, specifying a two-character alphanumeric key and a description for each status.
  2. For different sales documents (such as inquiry, order, delivery, and so on, with the exception of schedule lines blocked for delivery), define how the system reacts when you try to process a document that includes a material with a particular sales status:
  • No message: The sales document is processed normally.

  • Warning: A warning is issued during document processing.

  • Error message: An error message is issued, informing the user that the sales document cannot be processed based on the material status.

  1. Ensure that for all affected materials, the X-distr.chain status field is maintained in the material master records. The field is available in the Sales: Sales Org. Data 1 view of the material master.
