In this step, you can create roles and use the profile generator to generate authorization profiles.

To assign an authorization profile to a user, do the following:

  1. Create a role
  2. Enter a description
  3. Select transactions
  4. Create and edit authorizations
  5. Assigns users and compare the user master (in doing so, the profile is entered in the user's master record)
  6. Transport roles, if desired

Detailed documentation

For more information about the procedures, see transaction documentation

See also the general documentation on the Profile Generator in the SAP Library. Choose:
Basis Components → Computing Center Management System → Users and Roles or in the Implementation Guide (IMG), choose: Basis Components → System Administration → Users and Authorizations → Maintain Authorizations and Profiles using Profile Generator.

Note

You can also use authorization profiles you created manually or were delivered by SAP, in roles. You can create a role without a menu and include the corresponding profile in the authorization data of the role.

In the fourth step, choose "Edit -> Add authorization -> From profile" to add the authorization profile data to the role. SD Specific Notes

The system contains a general profile for sales processing ("V_SD_ALL"), which can be used as an example. It contains all the authorizations for the sales functions.

The standard system also contains profiles with different ranges of authorization.

The authorization concept is structured as a hierarchy so that profiles with more extensive authorizations also include the authorizations from more restricted profiles. You can branch to a detailed display of the basic profile which is used to construct other profiles.

The everyday activities of a sales employee can be covered using the following authorization profiles:

V_VERKAUF (SD Model Sales Profile)

contains all the authorizations needed by a sales employee (see )

V_VERSAND (SD Model Shipping Profile)

contains all the authorizations needed by a shipping employee (see )

V_FAKTURA (SD Model Billing Profile)

contains all the authorizations needed by a billing employee (see )

S_SACHBEARB (Model Profile for Application Employee with System Authorization)

contains all the nececessary authorizations for an employee in Basis (see )

The authorizations contained in this profile are for all applications, not just Sales and Distribution.

The following authorization profiles have been defined for users with system authorization:

V_VERK_ALL (SD Model Sales Profile with System Authorizations)

consists of the V_VERKAUF and S_SACHBEARB profiles.

V_VERS_ALL (SD Model Shipping Profile with System Authorizations)

consists of the V_VERSAND and S_SACHBEARB profiles.

V_FAKT_ALL (SD Model Billing Profile with System Authorizations)

consists of the V_FAKTURA and S_SACHBEARB profiles.

These profiles include all the authorizations from the individual profiles that they are made of.

The following profiles have been defined for the system administrator:

V_SD_SYS (SD Model Profile for System Authorizations)

contains all system authorizations (see ).

V_SD_GES (SD Complete Model Profile for Sales)

contains all system authorizations apart from archiving.

This profile consists of the V_VERK_ALL, V_VERS_ALL and V_FAKT_ALL profiles and contains all the authorizations in these profiles.

For example, this profile contains all the authorizations needed by the head of department.

V_SYS_PROD (Model Profile for an SD System Administrator in a Live System)

contains all system authorizations needed in a productive system (see )

V_SYS_TEST (Model Profile for an SD System Administrator in the Test Phase)

contains all system authorizations needed in the test phase.

This profile contains more extensive authorizations than those needed inthe profile for a productive system (see ).

At the highest level of the SD authorization concept is the

V_SYS_ADMIN profile (Model Profile for an SD System Administrator with All Authorizations)

This profile contains all authorizations and can, for example, be used by someone in a position of responsability within your organization (see ).

This profile is made up of the V_SD_SYS, V_SD_GES and V_SYS_PROD (productive system) or V_SYS_TEST (test phase) profiles and includes all the authorizations contained in these profiles.
