Define access sequence to be used as search strategy to search for valid determination records for packing instruction determination types.

The access sequence is a search strategy that the system uses to search for valid determination records for a packing instruction determination type.

For example, you can define that, in packing instruction determination, the system searches for a packing instruction firstly via the combination of material and customer (you define this combination via the condition tables, see Define key),and subsequently only via the customer.

  • If you define your own access sequences, the key should begin with the letter Z, as SAP has kept this name range free in the standard system.
  • You should not change the access sequences already contained in the standard system.
  1. Check the extent to which you can use the access sequences already contained in the standard system.
  2. Create new access sequences by using Edit -> Copy as... to copy and then modify a similar access sequence. Assign it an alphanumerical key of up to 4 figures, and enter a description.
  3. Maintain the accesses for the access sequence by entering the required sequence in the condition tables. To do this, select your new access sequence and choose Accesses. You define the order of priority for the accesses with the sequence.
To do this, you can use the input help to display the combinations of key fields defined and select them from here.
  1. From Release 3.0, it is no longer necessary to generate the accesses. This now takes place automatically. However, you still have the option of executing generation manually by choosing Utilities.
