When you execute a drilldown report, you can translate currency columns to a different currency under Settings -> Currency. In this step, you can maintain currency translation keys to be used for the translation of currency columns. These translation keys are dependent on a controlling area.

  1. Define your translation keys by specifying the following:
    1. A meaningful text
    2. The exchange rate type (such as historic rate, average rate)
    3. The currency into which you want to translate the values
  2. Specify whether the rate is an inverse exchange rate.
Inverse exchange rates are useful where the values have already been translated and you want to translate them back into the original currency with the original values in the drilldown report.
  1. Specify whether the translation key should use a fixed or variable translation date.
A fixed translation date is either a specific key date or the date on which the report is executed. The date specified here, together with the exchange rate type, determines which exchange rate is used later for the translation.
If the translation date is variable, the time reference (period or fiscal year) selected in reporting for each data record determines the rate used. Here you specify the time reference (for example, start of the period or year end). This allows you to translate each data record according to the exchange rate that was valid at the start of the period it is assigned.
If you use a variable translation date, note that columns in the list that are calculated using the translated column are automatically translated as well.
  1. Save your currency translation keys.

You have, for example, maintained the following exchange rates:

EUR USD 1.13

USD EUR 0.89

When translating from USD to EUR using an inverse exchange rate, the exchange rate 1/1.13 = 0.884 is used and not the exchange rate 0.89.
