In this activity, you can define object-dependent distribution keys, meaning distribution keys that apply for specific characteristics or value fields in planning. For example, depending on the characteristic "Country/Region", you can distribute the planned annual values for the product "Suntan lotion" to the individual periods on the basis of different distribution keys.

With a so-called "access key", you define which distribution keys should apply for which characteristic values or value fields in planning. Thus an access key combines all the information pertaining to object-dependent distribution to periods.

Thus, you do not need to make all entries for each planning object to distribute according to characteristic in the planning session and distribute separately. Instead, all you have to do is select an access key for each planning, with which the system carries out all the corresponding distributions.

To define object-dependent distribution keys, proceed as follows:

  1. Create an access key.
  2. You define a derivation rule when maintaining the object-dependent distribution key. Note that the field "access key" is a mandatory field and automatically appears as a source field. Also select the desired characteristics on which the distribution is to depend. If you also want to distribute based on value fields, also select the field "FIELDNAME" here.
The mandatory field "distribution key" is automatically entered as a target field.
  3. Create 'rule values' for the derivation rule; these are the characteristic values, the value fields where required, and the desired distribution keys. If you have not yet created any distribution keys, you can do so by double-clicking on the field "Distribution key" to branch to the maintenance transaction directly.

You can also define rule values directly from the application menu.
  4. Alternatively to using the default distribution keys stored in the parameter set, you can define an access key as the default to be used in distribution.
