In this IMG activity you define authorization profiles or determine whether the SAP standard profiles meet your requirements.

A profile contains authorization objects for a defined task area.

A composite profile contains several profiles.

With the help of profiles and composite profiles, you can clearly structure and manage authorization assignments.

By entering a profile or a composite profile into the master user data a user receives all authorizations included therein.

  • You must have the authorization to create or maintain profiles.
  • You must create authorizations if the standard authorizations do not meet your requirements.

The standard system provides default profiles for several typical work areas, such as:

  • SAP_ALL
  • SAP_NEW
All authorizations for new authorization objects
  1. Determine whether the SAP standard profiles meet your requirements.
  2. Create new profiles, if necessary, that meet your requirements. To do so, proceed as follows:
    1. Enter the name of the desired profile.
This can be an existing profile or a newly created profile.
Please note the SAP naming conventions when creating a profile.
  1. Choose Create work area.
  2. Choose Create to define either a single or a composite profile.
  3. Enter a short text, bearing the naming conventions in mind.
  4. Enter authorizations for your profile, proceeding as follows:
  • Select your profile.

  • Choose Add authorization.

The list of object classes appears. From this list, choose the necessary authorizations. Proceed as described in authorization maintenance.
  • Mark the desired authorizations in the authorization list and transfer them into the profile.

  1. Save your profile.
  2. Activate your profile.
  • Check whether the profile is complete, that is, whether all the users assigned to the defined profile can execute the desired activities.
