Define shipping points and maintain dependent pick/pack times and loading times for delivery scheduling.

Define and edit shipping points.

To adapt the functional scope of a shipping point to the organization in your company, you should ensure that:

  • The shipping point is the top level in the organization for shipping.
  • A shipping point can be allocated to several plants.
  • A shipping point can be divided into several loading points.
  • A delivery is always initiated from exactly one shipping point, meaning all items of a delivery belong to one shipping point. Groups of deliveries also belong to exactly one shipping point.
  • The shipping point can be proposed automatically during order processing depending on the plant, loading group, and shipping condition.
  • A shipping point has an address.
  • The shipping point is used as a selection criterion for lists of deliveries and the delivery worklist.
  • The shipping point is used as a selection criterion for processing deliveries like picking or goods issue.
  1. Define a shipping point
  • To do so enter a four-character alphanumeric key, a description, and the address.

  1. Use the project IMG view to edit data changed automatically.

Furthermore, you can define the delivery scheduling type for each shipping point. This means you can define for each shipping point whether and how the pick/pack times and/or the loading times should be determined.

  • You can decide whether the global criteria at shipping-point level are sufficient for scheduling or whether more precise times which are dependent on other criteria should be used.

You must define the more detailed time specifications separately. If you do not want the route to be considered when pick/pack times and loading times are determined, set the appropriate indicator here. When defining the times, you must leave the field for the route blank to ensure that the times are calculated independently of the route.

  • Define the pick/pack times which are required for material availability. The specifications depend on the following criteria:
  • Shipping Point

  • Route (if you want it to be considered for delivery scheduling)

  • Weight Group: This is determined by the SAP system based on the order quantity of the schedule line.

  • Define loading time. This depends on the following criteria:
  • Shipping Point

  • Route (if you want it to be considered for delivery scheduling)

  • Loading group of the material from the material master record

  • Define the rounding periods which are to be used for the calculation.
  • Specify a factory calendar for determining the dates. You must specify a factory calendar for each shipping point.

Note

Please use the Organizational Structure configuration activity to create new shipping points and create relationships to other entities of the organizational structure, for example, to plants.

The shipping points, routes, weight groups, and loading groups must be defined. The shipping points defined are automatically proposed for maintenance.

  1. Define whether and how delivery scheduling is to be carried out at the individual shipping points.
  2. Define the scheduling indicators for each shipping point.
  3. Checkthe pick/pack times your shipping department requires and define the pick/pack times for each shipping point, route, and weight group.
  4. Check the loading times your shipping department requires and define the loading times for each shipping point, route, and loading group.
