SAP E-Book

In this activity you define status that you require for warranty processing with parts to be returned.

The values that you define here are the values in the F4 help for the fields Status Parts to be Returned (Claimant) and und Status Parts to be Returned (Reimburser) in transaction WTY (Item Detail).

In warranty processing with parts to be returned, payments are often not made until the claimant has sent in certain defective parts to be checked. In this way, for example, quality control can trace why a specific part is always defective.

There are two processes that are distinct from one another: firstly the claimant returning the part to the claim processor and secondly the claim processor returning the part to the reimburser. This second process is optional.

The parts that should be returned are defined as such in the material master record (tab page Sales Organization 2, select field Product Attribute 9 to define the return requirement from claimant to processor, select field Product Attribute 10 to define the return requirement from processor to reimburser). This definition is an SAP default implementation.

You can use BAdI WTY_RETURN_PARTS_VALIDATIONS to define your own more flexible programming for the return requirement, for example, not linking the definition to the material but to the claim type or the partner.

The SAP standard system contains 4 identical statuses for both the return of parts from the claimant to the claim processor and for the return of parts from the claim processor to the reimburser. These are the statuses indicating (1) return of parts is required, (2) return of parts is not required, (3) a partial delivery and (4) an end delivery.
