SAP E-Book

You can define the object types that you want to use in distribution with ALE distribution units.

For new object types, you maintain the following data:

  • Key
  • Description
  • Table that describes the structure of the object key
  • Validity

For each object type, you maintain services for the following views:

  • Availability of Object Types for Distribution
You define which objects are to be distributed, and create messages.
  • Object Types That Import
You define the object types that trigger distribution, but that are not distributed themselves.
Example
You have registered for a material class, which contains n materials. When using ALE distribution units the materials, not the material class, are distributed. This significantly reduces the registration effort for the recipient and ensures complete distribution of all necessary objects.
  • Dependencies Between Object Types
You define predessor/successor relationships between object types.

Availability of Object Types for Distribution

In this view you set the following parameters and services - partly controlled by a function module - which influence the availability of the object types for distribution.

SAP supplies function modules for the standard object types. If you define your own object types, you also need your own function modules.

Note
If you change events or create new ones, you must perform activity ALE Distribution Unit: Setup to activate them.

Import Object Types

In this view you enter the following parameters and services - partly controlled by the function module - which influence the import of the object types:

Note If you change object types or create new ones, you must perform activity ALE Distribution Unit: Setup to activate them.

Dependencies Between Object Types

In this view you set the interdependencies between object types for the serialization of object types, by determining predecessor and successor relationships of the selected object type to other object types.

The objects to be distributed are also in the distribution model, where you define the interdependencies between the sending and receiving systems, and in the partner profiles (ALE Customizing) for participating systems. Maintain the following settings:

SAP delivers the following object types in the standard system:

  • CHR,,Characteristic
  • CLF,,Object classification
  • CLS,,Class
  • COND_A,,Condition (time independent)
  • COND_A_T,,Condition (time dependent)
  • CPI,, Configuration profile for general maintenance task list
  • CPL,,Configuration profile for model service specifications
  • CPM,,Configuration profile for material
  • CPS,,Configuration profile for standard network
  • DBOM,,Document structure
  • DEP,,Dependency net
  • DOC,,Document
  • ECM,,Change number
  • KNO,,Dependency
  • MAT,,Material
  • MAT=>DOC,,Document link
  • MBOM,,Material BOM
  • SUCLS,,Class hierarchy
  • VFU,,Variant function
  • VTA,,Variant table (structure)
  • VTM,,Variant table (content)

To set up object types, proceed as follows:

  1. Select Display/Change.
  2. If you want to create a new object type, choose New Entries and enter the following data:
    1. Object type, such as CHR for characteristic, or ECM for Change Number
    2. Description of object type
    3. Database table for object type
    4. Validity
Shows that the object has another validity status (necessary, possible, none)
  1. If you want to change existing object classes, double-click on the entry concerned, and make your changes.
  2. Save your data.

To set the availability for distribution for object types, proceed as follows:

  1. Position the cursor on the chosen object type.
  2. In the dialog structure, choose Object Types (For Distribution) - Services by double-clicking.
  3. If you want to create new object types with parameters for distribution, proceed as follows:
    1. Choose New Entries.
    2. Maintain the above parameters.
    3. Save your entries.
  4. If you want to change existing entries, proceed as follows:
    1. Position the cursor on the object type.
    2. Change the entry.
    3. Save your entries.

To set parameters for the import of object types, proceed as follows:

  1. Position the cursor on the object type.
  2. In the dialog structure, choose Object Type (Import) - Services by double-clicking.
  3. If you want to create new object types with import parameters, proceed as follows:
    1. Choose New Entries.
    2. Maintain the above parameters.
    3. Save your entries.
  4. If you want to change existing entries, proceed as follows:
    1. Position the cursor on the object type.
    2. Change the entry.
    3. Save your entries.

To set dependencies between object types, proceed as follows:

  1. Position the cursor on the object type.
  2. In the dialog structure, choose Object Type - Dependencies by double-clicking.
  3. If you want to create new dependencies between object types, proceed as follows:
    1. Choose New Entries.
    2. Maintain the above parameters.
    3. Save your entries.
  4. If you want to change existing entries, proceed as follows
    1. Position the cursor on the object type.
    2. Change the entry.
    3. Save your entries.
