In the IMG activity Vital Signs: Settings for Specification you determine whether and how unspecifically planned or preset vital sign measurements can be specified.

In your main catalog of the CLIM - Clinical Measurements catalog category you have defined unspecific items, which should be used for planning or presetting.

In the entry dialog the user should replace these with specific, i.e. uniquely described vital signs, such as for example, including the specification of the localization and/or measurement methods. You must also have defined these specific vital signs in the main catalog of the CLIM - Clinical Measurements catalog category as catalog items.

Special Case Pair Formation

The specifcation of measurement pairs (instead of the specification of individual items) is now only intended within the use of paired input elements (i.e. for example the input element for blood pressure).

You must have connected the main catalog items for blood pressure measurements with the "Vital Sign: Blood Pressure" or "Vital Signs: Blood Pressure Short Variant" input element. A prerequisite for the use of paired input elements is that you have defined a pair key for the concerned measurement items from the main catalog. You can find information on the configuration of input elements in customizing under Industry-Specific Component Clinical System → Clinical Documentation → Clinical Measurements → Vital Signs: Input Elements → Vital Signs: Assignment of Input Elements.

For the realization and specification of pairs in the application it is irrelevant whether you have defined pairs in the main catalog of the CLIM - Clinical Measurements catalog category within a group hierarchy or without group formation. A group is only used for clarification purposes here. However, group formation has no effect on the realization or specification of pairs in the input elements.

Within the IMG activity for configuring the specification requirement you select the unspecific vital sign for which you wish to execute the settings. Enter the institution, departmental OU, nursing OU and catalog key. You can use the input help. Determine whether the specification should be an "optional" or "mandatory" default.

In a subsequent step you name one or more items with which the unspecific item can or must be specified in the application.

You should note the following for the special case "Pair Formation in Input Elements":

When specifiying unspecific and specific values leave the fields for the item abbreviation empty. Instead, enter the corresponding pair key in the fields for pair formation and specified pair. Here again, you should use the input help.

Individual Catalog Items

Temperature is specified in:

  • Axillary Temperature
  • Rectal Temperature

Pulse is specified in:

  • Pulse Palpated
  • Pulse via Oximeter

Special Case Pair Formation

The "Blood Pressure" pair (consisting of the "Systolic Blood Pressure" and "Diastolic Blood Pressure" items) are specified in the pairs:

  • "Blood Pressure Right"
(consisting of "Systolic Blood Pressure Right" and "Diastolic Blood Pressure Right")
    or
  • "Blood Pressure Left"
(consisting of "Systolic Blood Pressure Left" and "Diastolic Blood Pressure Left")
