In this IMG activity, you can add new methods to the method catalog and monitor, as well as edit existing methods.

  • You have already defined object classes in IMG activity Define Object Classes.
  • If you want to use messages for notifying of the successful completion of methods, you have already created the messages using transaction SE91.
  • If you want to include object identifiers in the message text, the messages conform to the following structure: &2 &1(e.g. Blocking of node(s) &2 &1).

  • If you do not want to include object identifiers in the message text, the messages conform to the following structure: &1(e.g. Resource element creation &1).

Object class methods, including text and icons, are provided in the standard system.

  1. Choose Method Catalog. You can now add object class methods.
  2. Enter a unique three-digit identifier.
  3. From the Auth. field, determine whether the method is a displaymethod or maintain method. This will affect the availability of the method to users, depending on their authorization.
  4. Enter short text to describe the method.
  5. If you want to create a pushbutton to invoke the method from the ALV tool bar:
    1. Enter the text to appear on the pushbutton, if you want the pushbutton to contain text.
    2. Enter the code of the icon (found in the second column of the List of Icons - program RLMON_ICONS_DISPLAY) to appear on the pushbutton, if you want the pushbutton to contain an icon.
  6. Go back and choose Object Class Methods.
  7. Assign each new method to one or more object classes by doing the following:
    1. Choose the object class number.
    2. Enter the method identifier that you defined in step 2 above.
    3. In the Service field, enter the name of the service utilized by the method.
    4. If you want a message to be displayed upon successful completion of the monitor method, enter the message class and number (not relevant to TRM).
    5. If you want the method to be invoked from object class level only, select Class Mthd.
    6. If the object class is a parent class and you want to prevent the method from being inherited by its child classes, select Excl.from Child.
    7. If you defined a pushbutton for the method in step 5 above, and you want this pushbutton to be displayed in the ALV tool bar, select PB.
