In this IMG activity, you do the following:

  • Define zones, including intra-zone metrics and zone functionality.
  • Define the different types of serving zones:

Defining these types of serving zones influences the routing, prioritization and creation of tasks.

Do not assign more than one operation to the same work center.

  1. Choose Define Zones.
  2. Define zones for each site.
  3. Go back and choose Define Operations and Serving Zones.
  4. Define the operation and serving zones for each site.
    1. Define the work centers and assign to them operations and corresponding durations.
    2. Define the P&D zones and assign to them the zones they will be serving.
    3. Define the empty pallet zones and assign to them the zones they will be serving.
  • If you do not assign a P&D or empty pallet zone to any served zones, the P&D or empty pallet zone will serve all zones.
  • If you define an empty pallet zone and assign to it an entry node (in IMG activity Define Nodes and Entries/Exits to/from Zones), when a bundle of pick and pack tasks is created, the system will also create an additional task that directs the resource to the empty pallet zone to take an empty pallet and move with it to the source of the first picking task.
  • If you define an empty pallet zone and assign to it both entry and exit nodes, other task activities besides picking (such as replenishments) can be created. You can create such a task using Business Add-In LTRM_TASK_POST_MODF.
