To handle complex pricing rules for commodities traded on stock markets, there are two solutions with slightly different data models:

  • Commodity pricing engine (CPE) in SAP CRM
  • Formula & average pricing (F&A) in SAP Oil & Gas

As the latter is the older solution and widely used by customers, it is expected that customers want to extend their existing business practice from F&A to also include the CPE.

You can carry out the necessary migration from F&A pricing to the CPE with a flexible tool. This migration tool is based on the functions of SAP Oil & Gas and is closely linked to the Legacy System Migration Workbench (LSMW).

Sales processes originating in the SAP CRM component work through all processes with the new data model to ensure that prices are calculated consistently.

The business practice information that is condensed in the application data of the F&A can be extracted to Customizing settings in SAP Oil & Gas. These Customizing settings are compliant with the new CPE data model and have to be replicated in SAP CRM. The settings in the SAP CRM component will be used through all sales processes where pricing is involved in SAP CRM and SAP Oil & Gas.

You must have installed SAP R/3 Plug-In Release 2004.1 or higher in SAP Oil & Gas.

You must configure a connection between SAP CRM and SAP Oil & Gas using transaction code SM59.

SAP delivers a sample LSMW project for the migration of the F&A data model in SAP Oil & Gas to the CPE data model in SAP CRM.

For more information on how to get this sample LSMW project, see SAP Note 679972.

The sample project contains the following mapping content:

  • Structural mapping: Which field in the old model corresponds to which field in the new model?
  • Value mapping: How is the value of field f1_old (old model) translated into the value f1_new (new model)? This also includes mapping for numbers of user exits that are shipped by SAP.

Due to the nature of the F&A as a framework for user exits, customers will have defined their own user exits and set up customer-specific formulas. Therefore, the SAP sample project can be seen only as a guiding sample and does not prevent the customer from setting up his/her own specific configuration. It is also expected that existing customer user exits in the old model can be replaced by user exits delivered by SAP in the new model.

As the new data model should allow a higher reuse of formula subparts, the application data in the old model must be analyzed for such recurrent patterns.

Such patterns are analyzed on the following levels (in brackets the corresponding data base tables):

  • Formula header (OICQ1, OICQ4, OICQ7)
  • Formula term (OICQ2, OICQ5, OICQ8)
  • Formula term item (OICQ3, OICQ6, OICQ9)

All the composite patterns for a formula and its terms as well as for a term and its term items are also analyzed.

The patterns of repeated formulas are subsequently identified in the repository formula, condition master formula, and document formula datasets.

This pattern analysis is to help reduce the number of formulas that have to be generated either in Customizing or during the data exchange. The results of pattern analysis are used for migration.

Perform this activity only if you want to calculate stock market-based prices in a scenario integrating SAP CRM (5.0 or higher) with SAP Oil & Gas.

Perform the following activities before F&A formulas are converted to the new data model:

  1. Analyze and identify recurrent patterns in the application data of F&A (SAP Oil & Gas) by running report ROIC_PATTERN_ANALYSIS. This report stores the results in a compressed dataset as patterns (also referred to as level zero patterns) for further analysis. A level zero analysis means that all fields in the F&A data model that are relevant for migration to the CPE data model are taken into account.
If you want to use additional customer-specific attributes saved for the pattern generation, choose BAdI: Fill Additional Attributes of F&A Formulas.
  2. Use report ROIC_ANALYZE_PATTERNS to analyze the level zero patterns generated in the previous step. It provides useful information about pattern usage statistics.
  3. If the level zero analysis does not lead to satisfying results, use report ROIC_HIGH_LEVEL_PATTERNS to generate additional formula patterns (called higher-level formula patterns). Higher level analysis means that you exclude certain F&A formula related information (fields or field groups) from formula patterns, which have already being produced in the level zero analysis.

Perform the following activities to convert F&A formulas to the new data model:

  1. Define an LSMW project that contains all the structural and value mapping content you need for the migration from the F&A data model to the CPE data model. Use the information from the pattern analysis steps to ensure that the migration lead to a maximum reuse of CPE formulas and its subparts in Customizing.
  2. Convert the formulas using the mapping of the previous step using the LSMW. The system stores the data in files on the application server as specified in the configuration settings of the LSMW project.
  3. Review the data file that results from the LSMW conversion by using the LSMW file viewing function. Perform several test conversion runs until you are sure that the mapping is completely configured.
  4. Execute the direct input program CPE_RCOMMFOR to read the file resulting from the finally approved conversion by LSMW in the previous step. The direct input program updates the Customizing tables in SAP Oil & Gas reflecting the new CPE data model. After this step, CPE formulas, CPE terms, and other CPE formula subparts exist in CPE Customizing.
These Customizing table entries have no productive use for a formula evaluation but are used as a preconfiguration for Customizing in the SAP CRM component and for the data exchange. They also document the sum of all migration projects done in SAP Oil & Gas from the F&A model to the CPE model.
  5. Replicate the CPE Customizing settings from SAP Oil & Gas in SAP CRM.
