This activity enables the creation and editing of phases for sourcing projects.

For better control at a high level, you can divide the lifecycle of a sourcing project into time segments. These time segments are called phases. In this step, you can create new phases for sourcing projects or maintain the existing phases.

You can maintain the following:

  • Phase number that defines the phase sequence
The phase number must be a two-character number. You cannot use “0” or “1”. In this case you use "00" or “01” as the phase number and continue to number in consecutive order. The initial start point of a sourcing project only requires a description such as “Start Point”, the phase Id should be left blank in this case to accommodate the phase modeling in the step Define Phase Model for Sourcing Projects.
  • Phase description

You can maintain the following:

  • Phase number that defines the phase sequence.
The phase number must be a two-character whole number. You cannot use "1" or "01". In this case you use "10" as the phase number and continue to number in consecutive order. The initial start point of a sourcing project only requires a description such as “Start Point”, the phase Id should be left blank in this case to accommodate the phase modeling in the step Define Phase Model for Sourcing Projects.
  • Phase description
  • Start Point (No Phase ID required for sourcing project initial start point)

  • 00 Negotiating

  • 01 Finalizing

Each phase in this example can cover a longer period during which a sourcing project can be changed multiple times until it reaches the conditions that are defined in "Define Phase Model for Sourcing Projects".
