In this step, you define your adjustment types. Adjustment types represent the methods used to calculate the amount/quantity by which the compensation component will be changed.

In your organization, the employees' base pay component consists of a salary increase and a special adjustment. The bonus component consists of an incentive bonus and a year end bonus. To reflect the different calculation methods in the system, you would define the following adjustment types:

Adjustment type Component
SALI (Salary increase) BASE (Base pay)
MTRE (Special adjustment) BASE (Base pay)
INCT (Incentive bonus) BONS (Bonus)
YEND (Year end bonus) BONS (Bonus)

The system contains sample entries that you can use or modify to meet your requirements.

  1. Choose New entries
  2. Enter a four-character identifier and a description
  3. Enter a validity period
  4. Select a component
  5. Save your entries
  6. Repeat steps 1 to 5 until you have defined all your adjustment types
