SAP E-Book

The Project System distinguishes between two forms of authorization:

  • object-related authorizations
  • authorizations for functions, which are also used in other applications

All the authorizations, which you need for working in the Project System, are included in the standard SAP authorization profile C_PS_ALL

,,Object-related authorizations

In the object class "Project System", you will find authorization objects which refer directly to application objects in the Project System (such as project definitions and networks). To choose them, go to the main SAP menu and choose Tools -> Administration -> User maintenance -> Authorization.

Generally speaking, these refer to a particular value in the object (e.g. controlling area) and an activity (e.g. time scheduling). For more details, read the online documentation for the authorization objects.

,,Authorizations for particular functions

As well as the object-related authorizations, you need authorizations which are also used in other applications in the SAP system, for example CO, FI, PM, Document Management System etc. For details about the necessary authorizations, refer to the IMG of the corresponding applications.

Note

Particularly if you are a new customer, we recommend that you use the Profile Generatorfor creating authorizations and profile. This functions simplifies Customizing considerably.

For details on the individual configuration steps for the Profile Generator, refer to the IMG "Basis -> System Administration -> Users and Authorizations -> Maintain authorizations and profiles using profile generator".
