Define the number range intervals from which a handling unit (HU) identification is obtained if the packaging material type requires Global Transport Label (GTL) numbering.

In this activity, you can assign - according to your organizational structure - the relevant intervals for internal and external number assignment to a warehouse number. With this assignment you ensure a gap-less HU GTL numbering.

SAP predelivery two standard number range intervals, so you do not need to configure intervals in general, but you can add other intervals.

To do so, you add further specific number range objects and number range intervals via the Define Number Range Intervals for GTL activity. You can assign specific issuing agency codes, for example UN, as well as the company identification number and an internal / external number range interval per warehouse number.

Note

In this activity, you can also assign a GTL number range interval to all warehouses; that means, the field warehouse number is blank. Applications refer to these Customizing settings and determine the valid entry. A valid entry could also be an entry with an initial warehouse number.

The application always tries to use an entry with the same warehouse number. If no warehouse number is available, the application uses the number range that is assigned to the blank entry.

The following setting options are available:

  • warehouse number(optional)
warehouse number (based on a unique key) which is relevant for the GTL number generation.
  • Sequence Number(mandatory)
Sequence number of Company Identification Number (CIN) assignment.
  • Issuing Agency Code (IAC) (mandatory)
A code (3 alphanumeric digits) that designates the registration (or controlling) authority for the enterprise identifier.
  • Company Identification Number (CIN)(mandatory)
A code (9 numeric digits) that is unique and assigned to every company.
  • Number Range Object(mandatory)
either standard Number Range Object (HU_GTL) or another with length 9 and no sub objects.
  • Internal Interval(optional)
Number range interval that is used by internal number range assignment to determine the handling unit identification (based on the Number Range Object for GTL).
You can select an internal number range interval that is used by internal number range assignment to determine the handling unit identification.
  • External Interval(optional)
Number range interval used to check the externally-issued identification of a handling unit (based on the Number Range Object for GTL or other Number Range Objects).
You can select an external number range interval that is used to check the externally-issued identification of a handling unit.
  • Do not use(checkbox)
Indicator that controls if this this setting should be used or not.

Note

The system has the same behavior for the settings Sequence Numberand Do not use like in the Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC) context.

Because the GTL configuration for warehouse and plant/storage location can technically use the same combination of IAC and CIN, you have to check several configuration activities.

In your configuration environment, use the search function to check the following configuration activities:

  • Maintain GTL Generation for each Plant/Storage Location
  • Maintain GTL Generation for Each Warehouse Number

You have maintained the following entries for a packaging material type in the IMG Activity Define Packaging Material Types:

  • Number assignment type for GTL
  • Internal number range interval (mandatory)
  • External number range interval (optional)
