Define the MRP area profile for storage location MRP areas.

An MRP area profile can be used for storage location MRP areas, if you configure the system to assign materials to MRP areas automatically as soon as they are maintained in one of the storage locations of the MRP area. In this case, the MRP area profile specifies the default parameters used to create the material assignment to the storage location MRP area (MDMA entry for the material and MRP area). As opposed to the MRP profile (which is assigned for each material as master data), the MRP area profile specifies general characteristics of the MRP area which are valid defaults for all later material assignments.

Using the MRP area profile, you can exclude certain storage locations from planning by default or you can specify special procurement processes (such as stock transfer from plant) that are used as default settings for all materials in the storage location MRP area.

You can overwrite the defaulted values of the MRP area profile in the material assignment to MRP areas as soon as the MRP area assignment has been created.

To define a new MRP area profile, proceed as follows:

  1. In the Define MRP Area Profile overview, choose New Entries.
  2. Enter a new MRP area profile and description. You can enter an alphanumeric number for the MRP area profile.
  3. Select the new MRP area profile and navigate to Maintain MRP Area Profile Fields.
  4. Choose New Entries.
  5. You assign one or multiple MRP area fields to your MRP area profile. For any MRP area field, you can specify a default value or select the Copy Field checkbox to copy the content of the MRP area field from the plant-dependent material master field.
  6. Save and choose Back.

You want to exclude a certain storage location from material requirements planning. Therefore, you have defined an MRP area of the type storage location and assigned the storage location to be excluded from planning. In addition, you have set the indicator for the automatic creation of material assignments to the storage location MRP area. In this case, the system automatically assigns a material to the storage location MRP area (creates an MDMA entry for the material and MRP area) as soon as the material is maintained in the concerned storage location (MARD entry is created).

With the MRP area profile, you define the parameters of the created MRP area assignments. To exclude the material from planning, you have to define an MRP area profile that sets the MRP type (MRP area field DISMM) to ‘ND’. This MRP area profile has to be maintained at the storage location MRP area in addition to the indicator for the automatic creation of material assignments.
