Assign a message category to system messages and create message versions.

In Purchasing, certain system messages containing important information for users may be issued (for example, "Net price of purchase order is higher than material price"). Users can act on the information provided.

In this step, you can assign one of the following message categories to system messages:

• Blank: The message is suppressed.

• W: The message appears as a warning message.

• E: The message appears as an error message.

Note: In the case of an error message, processing cannot be continued until user input has been corrected.

You can also create different versions of a message. Users can then be assigned different message versions, depending on whether the user should see the message as a warning or an error, for example.

1. Process the list of system messages by assigning each one to a message category and create message versions where needed.
2. Assign a version to certain users. This results in the same message appearing as an error message for one user, but as a warning for another. To do this, assign the parameter ID "MSV" and the version number in the relevant user master records.
