In this Customizing activity, you define a minimum life for account types with reference to the clearing date in days. This minimum life determines the earliest period after which journal entries can be moved to the historical area of the data base for all accounts with a specific account type.

The account type life also determines for how long you can display a list of open items for a key date without accessing the historical area of the data base.

During the data aging run, the system uses the specified account lives as well as the relevant document lives to determine the relevant journal entries.

To define a minimum life for an account type, specify the following:

• Company code

• Account type

• Account life in days

To define the same account life for more than one company code or account type, you can use * as a placeholder. If more than one entry applies for the same account type, the system always uses the most exact entry.

Note:

If an entry with company code * and a specific account type and an entry with account type * and a specific company code both apply for the same account, the system cannot determine the most exact entry. In such cases, the system uses the entry that has the longest account type life assigned.

You have defined an account type life of 60 days for account type A. The following journal entries contain items that were posted to an account that has account type Aassigned and that contain open items:

• Document B(clearing date 03/15/2012)

• Document C (clearing date 01/15/2012)

If you schedule a data aging run on 04/01/2012, only document C will be included in this run.
