This transaction facilitates the determination of the required minimum distribution in case the sole beneficiary of the IRA is the accountholder's spouse who is at least 10 years younger than the accountholder. The life expectancy depends on both the accountholder's age and the spouse's age. This table can be maintained using the life expectancy values published by the IRS (publication 590).
