You can manage material stocks in a decentralized Warehouse Management system (WMS).
Through the assignment plant / storage location to warehouse number, the SAP Warehouse Management system is activated. By setting this warehouse number as a decentralized WMS, you make sure that the system now manages the warehouse stocks in a decentralized WMS. This decentralized system can be either an SAP System or an external system.
The storage bin stocks in your company are to be managed in a decentralized WMS. Inventory management takes place in a central SAP S/4HANA system. Both systems are SAP systems. For this purpose, the following settings (application) are required:
Central SAP S/4HANA system
- Define the warehouse number 002 (example)
- You should not copy the entire warehouse number 001 into warehouse number 002. For this scenario, only the warehouse number definition is required in the SAP S/4HANA system.
- Assign warehouse number 002 to storage location 0001 in plant 0001.
- Activate the decentralized WMS in warehouse number 002.
- Define the time at which an outbound /inbound delivery is to be distributed to the decentralized WMS.
Decentralized WMS
- Copy warehouse number 001 to warehouse number 002
- In the decentralized WMS, you have to copy a complete warehouse number since here you need the entire scope of WM functions.
- Also assign warehouse number 002 to storage location 0001 in plant 0001.
- Maintain the number range interval for the warehouse documents.
- Activate the central SAP S/4HANA system in storage location 0001 of plant 0001.
Activate your decentralized Warehouse Management systems.
