In this workstep, you define for each storage type how the UoM load category will be determined for stock removal and stock placement activities in the warehouse.

If the load (processing time) for a warehouse movement depends more on the handling effort required for the units of measure, the determination procedure is set so that the unit-of-measure load category is determined by the system via the assignment to the unit of measure. This if usually the case with stock removals if partial stock removal is defined for a storage type and, therefore, the quantity processed in the TO item is removed directly at the storage bin (picking activity in the picking warehouse).

If the processing time for a warehouse movement depends upon the handling of the movement unit, the determination procedure is set so that the unit-of-measure load category is determined by the system using the assignment of the storage unit type. This is the case, for example, if the effort for a transport depends upon the movement of an entire transport or movement unit (stock placement of pallet into shelf).
