In this Customizing activity, you can override the default logic for number range determination for business partners. The default logic for number range assignment is defined under Define Groupings and Assign Number Ranges.

Here, you can define that the number ranges used depend on the systems in which the business partners (suppliers) were originally created. Per logical system, you can specify the following:

  • Whether or not to use external number assignment
  • Which number ranges apply
You can specify an external, an internal, or an external and an internal number range.

To keep the IDs of suppliers originating from external systems identical in both the source system and the SAP ERP system, you can enable external number assignment. Assign a business partner grouping that uses an external number range.

  1. You have defined number ranges under Define Number Ranges.
To ensure that you can assign different number ranges for different systems in this present activity, you need to have defined several number ranges.
  1. You have assigned these number ranges to business partner groupings under Define Groupings and Assign Number Ranges.

Specify the following:

  • Logical System: the systems from which the suppliers originate
  • Assign External Numbers: whether external number assignment is to be used
  • External Grouping: This column is only relevant if you have indicated that external number assignment is to be used. If so, specify a business partner grouping that uses an external number range.
  • Internal Grouping: a business partner grouping that uses an internal number range
