This section provides you with the configuration steps needed to monitor the AS Java of a double stack system in the central monitoring system (CEN).

The CCMS agent SAPCCMSR transfers the monitoring data of the Java system to the CEN. The agent is part of the engine's installation package. You must register and start the agent only once for each system.

Note: If you want to monitor a double stack system as of release SAP NetWeaver 7.10 centrally, you only need to register the AS ABAP with the CEN.

Registration

  1. Log on to the host of AS Java for the system as adm.
  2. Copy the start file CSMCONF (see Create Start File CSMCONF for CCMS Agent) to the following directory:
  • Windows: ,,[drive]:\usr\sap\ccms\_\sapccmsr

  • Unix:,,,,/usr/sap/ccms/_/sapccmsr

You can also save the start file in any directory that you can access from your local host. However, when you register the agent you must specify where you saved the file. To do this, in the Monitoring service in the Visual Administrator (see below) choose Change …, and enter the path for the start file. The system then automatically copies the file to the above directory.
  1. In the host of the AS Java, switch to the following directory:
  • Windows:,,\JC\j2ee\admin\

  • Unix:,,,,/JC/j2ee/admin/

The combination of letters in the directory name JC may vary in the above field.
  1. Start the Visual Administrator by calling the start script go (Unix) or go.bat (Windows) and logging on with your user as J2EE Engine Administrator.
  2. In the navigation bar, choose Cluster → → Dispatcher → Services → Monitoring and select the CCMS Agent Configuration tab.
  3. If you want to monitor more than one system with the same system ID, select the Long SID indicator and enter a description of the system that is unique in your monitored system landscape. This "long system ID" must satisfy the following conditions:
  • The first three characters must be the same as those of the system ID.

  • The name must consist of at least eight characters.

  • The name must not contain any underlines (_).

  1. Because you want to register the agent in two systems, you need the access data of two users for each of these systems - an administration user and a communication user CSMREG.
  2. Enter the access data for these users for the local ABAP system by making all entries in the rows for Local Administration User and Local CSMREG User. If necessary, you can overwrite any default values.
  3. Enter the access data for these users for the CEN by making all entries in the rows for CEN Administration User and CEN CSMREG User. If necessary, you can overwrite any default values. The CEN Administration User is the user with administrator rights that you used to created the CSMCONF start file; the CEN CSMREG User is the user in the CEN that you created under Create User CSMREG).
If you want to monitor the Java instances of your CEN, the local ABAP system and the CEN are identical. You only see entries for the local ABAP system.
  1. Choose Register. The system displays the registration log; errors are highlighted in red.
  2. In Unix, the agent is also started automatically using the script startsap when you start the AS Java. In Windows, you must start the related service yourself (this is the service that was created when you installed the AS Java).
On the Windows host on which the agent is running, choose Start → Control Panel →Administration → Services and double click the service SAPCCMSR. . Set the start category to Automatic and choose Start.

Check Registration

  1. To check whether the agent was registered successfully on the CEN, call the transaction RZ21 in the CEN, set the Agents for Remote Systems radio button and choose Display Overview. In the list, the name of the agent you just registered is in the SAPCCMSR.. row.
  2. To check whether the agent was registered successfully on the local ABAP system, call the transaction RZ21 in the local ABAP system, set the Agents for Local System radio button and choose Display Overview. In the list, the name of the agent you just registered is in the SAPCCMSR.. row.
